USO TOUR

Hello, I just met Mr. Williams about an hour ago over here in Afghanistan. Don't really have time to send a letter, but just wanted to say thanks to him and that it was an awesome thing to get to meet him and shake his hand. Thanks a lot!

I don't know if this is the right email to send this to, but I would like to say thank you to Robin Williams. I am a mother of a Marine over in Afghanistan, and he email me and told me that he got to see him, with Kathleen Madigan and the others. It really lifted his sprit. As a mother it is very hard to be here knowing I am safe and my son being over there and not knowing he is safe. Knowing I won't be able to spend Christmas with him. So I was so glad to hear how excited he was about this. At least I know he was able to have some fun time over there, and got something special. So thank you so much. Sincerely,

Seeing Robin Williams a little while ago at the USO tour was by far the best 15 minutes of my year deployment! It is so nice for him to take time out to come and support the military during the holiday season. It means so much to us to hear words of encouragement and support. Thank you Robin Williams!

My daughter e-mailed me today and said it was her best Bag day EVER! Robin and his cohorts put on a USO show; he swept through the hospital, gave her a hug, took a picture with her and thrilled her no end.
As a nurse, her tour of duty there is nowhere near as lonely and frightening as it has been for some of her charges, but the morale lift she was given by Robin and his team was something that surely must make the angels smile.

My brother, SRA Edward Parker, is serving his second tour in Afghanistan and his birthday was Dec. 15th!! His favorite comedian of all time is Robin Williams and he was able to see him perform in person on Dec. 16th. Thank you so much for making his birthday incredible even during a deployment. My son is stationed at Bagram AFB in Afghanistan. He called today and was excited to tell me he that not only did he get to see Robin Williams and the others perform, but was able to shake hands with Robin and Lance Armstrong. It was so wonderful to hear that the troops had the opportunity to relax and have some fun during the holidays. It has been difficult preparing for the Christmas holidays knowing he will not be here with us, but hearing the excitement in his voice as he talked about the show really lifted my spirits too!
I cannot possible thank you and the performers of the USO Holiday tour enough for taking the time to support our troops at Christmas time. As a mom of one of the soldiers who benefited from your visit, I wanted you to know that your efforts are sincerely appreciated by the troops and also by me – thank you and Merry Christmas!
