Ben Affleck will present his longtime friend and co-star, Matt Damon, with the 24th American Cinematheque Award at the Cinematheque's annual benefit gala on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel's International Ballroom in Beverly Hills.
The award presentation concludes an evening of in-person tributes from Damon's colleagues, including of course, Robin, but also Casey Affleck, Don Cheadle, Clint Eastwood, Jimmy Kimmel, Greg Kinnear and Charlize Theron. In addition, George Clooney and Ben Stiller will pay tribute by partaking in individual pre-taped comedy sketches, while President William Jefferson Clinton appears in and narrates a piece surrounding Damon's humanitarian efforts that will be played during the show. Added guests will be announced as they are confirmed.
ABC will premiere the Award Show broadcast of "Hollywood Salutes Matt Damon: An American Cinematheque Tribute" at a later date. This is the 1st year that ABC will broadcast the show. Damon was the unanimous choice of the Cinematheque Board of Directors selection committee which, since 1986, has annually honored an extraordinary artist (actor, director or writer) in the entertainment industry who is fully engaged in his or her work and is committed to making a significant contribution to the art of the motion picture.
The American Cinematheque Award is presented annually to an extraordinary artist currently making a significant contribution to the art of the Moving Picture and is a mid-career achievement honor. Proceeds from the event go towards the year round operation of the American Cinematheque's public programming at the Egyptian and Aero Theatres in Los Angeles.
Robin already received this award back in 1988.

Last December Lance's Livestrong Foundation launched a new free quarterly magazine. The first issue was released early December 2009 with a 4 page article covering an interview with Robin. You can read the article on this site or you can sign up for the free magazine and read all the other very interesting pieces!
Below you can read the official press release about the launch of this great new magazine.
LIVESTRONG Quarterly is a new online, print and print-on-demand publication from LIVESTRONG. The magazine features profiles of survivors and supporters in the fight against cancer; resources and information about cancer prevention and treatment; and general articles about health, fitness and wellness.
"As a three-time cancer survivor, I understand the worries and concerns other survivors face on a personal level," said LIVESTRONG President and CEO Doug Ulman. "Our goal with LIVESTRONG Quarterly is to communicate these concerns to the broader community and to demand change for the 28 million people around the world living with cancer today."
The premiere issue includes a cover story about swimming champ Eric Shanteau's cancer diagnosis just as he was about to reach the Beijing Olympics, as well as a feature story on Kris Carr's wellness movement "Crazy Sexy Cancer," interviews with Mario Lemieux and Robin Williams on healing and recovery, and articles about post-cancer fertility and the new targeted hybrid drugs.
Curtis Pesmen is the editor of LIVESTRONG Quarterly. He is a cancer survivor and author of seven nonfiction books, including The Colon Cancer Survivor's Guide, How a Man Ages and Your Prostate Cancer Survivor's Guide. He was formerly Chief of Research at Esquire and Health and features editor at SELF magazine.
LIVESTRONG Quarterly is sponsored by Genentech. "Genentech is proud to serve as the Founding Scientific Sponsor for LIVESTRONG Quarterly," said John Orwin, senior vice president, marketing and sales, Genentech BioOncology. "We are impressed by LIVESTRONG's accomplishments on behalf of people living with cancer and we honor their work toward our shared goal of helping survivors and their families."
Its other co-sponsor is the Mayo Clinic. "We are delighted to be working with LIVESTRONG Quarterly. It will be a great resource for cancer survivors and their advocates, as well as for healthy individuals working to stay that way. A source of inspiration and hope, LIVESTRONG is an ideal partner for the Mayo Clinic," said Dr. Rafael Fonseca, Deputy Director of the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center.
"This is a unique opportunity for advertisers to identify themselves with what has become one of the most recognized and beloved brands in the cancer community and the motivational health industry," said Margot Sandenbergh, CEO of SPOT ON media. "We are honored to be working with LIVESTRONG on their agenda of disease prevention, early detection and promotion of a healthy lifestyle."

There were so many stars inside the Kodak Theatre Saturday, it looked like a casual version of Oscar night.
Robert Downey, Jr. Charlize Theron. Kathy Bates. John Travolta. Tina Fey. Matt Damon. Jake Gyllenhaal. Kate Winslet. Penelope Cruz. Tom Hanks. Jennifer Lopez. Robin Williams. Zoe Saldana. Sarah Jessica Parker.
Instead of the glamorous gowns and tuxedoes they'll wear for Sunday's big show, the stars were relaxed in jeans and sneakers. And instead of being live on the air in front of millions, they performed behind closed doors for a small crowd of show workers.
A bearded, bespectacled Robin came out in a black raincoat and cargo pants. Instead of opening the prop envelope, he held it against his forehead Johnny Carson-style and intuitively announced the winner.
"It's Sarah Palin, for 'I'm Still Here,'" Robin quipped, and the crowd of show workers roared.
