Los Angeles-based film company Mind Blur Productions is proud to announce that Zelda Williams, the 20-year-old daughter of actor Robin Williams, has been cast in the lead role of their terrifying fact-based thriller Powder Burns, which is gearing up for an April 2010 production start date in Los Angeles.
In Powder Burns Ms. Williams, who has appeared in movies including The House of D and Detention and was voted one of People Magazine's 100 Most Beautiful People, will play Emily Tomassini, an intelligent and devoutly religious but headstrong young woman who has been battling her mother and father over her relationship with an older, married health care professional named Philip Newman. After Emily's spiteful dad Paul Tomassini has a violent confrontation with his daughter's lover, the battles escalate into an all out war that culminates in Emily and Philip going on a blood-soaked rampage in Emily's childhood home which leaves four people senselessly slaughtered, including Emily's parents and younger brother. The riveting Powder Burns will take an in-depth examination of the twisted relationships and unbelievable events that lead to these sensational murders.
Ms. Williams was handpicked to play multiple murderess Emily Tomassini after an exhaustive search by Writer/Director Chuck Parello, who is known for his distinctively disquieting takes on other real crime cases including Ed Gein, which starred Steve Railsback, and The Hillside Strangler, which starred C. Thomas Howell and Nicholas Turturro. Mr. Parello states about selecting Ms. Williams to play the part that "Zelda became the obvious choice after she conveyed to me how enthusiastic she felt about undertaking the many emotional and physical challenges a role like this would require of her. She's a hugely talented young woman who will be fearlessly committed to the project and I look forward to working with her."
The casting for Powder Burns is currently on-going in Los Angeles. The Powder Burns screenplay was written by Brian Huselton and Chuck Parello and the film will be produced by Mr. Parello, Jim Jaworski and Michael Muscal (Ted Bundy, Detention).

Earlier today (or was it yesterday? You can never tell with these time zones) Robin and Elijah Wood surprised Kings Cross' Sugarmill Comedy Club with a visit. Of course, Robin had to take the Australian stage and was the last comic that night to do so. He did about 15 minutes of stand up.

Production on Happy Feet 2 has begun in Sydney, with Robin, Elijah Wood and Hank Azaria in town for the animated sequel.
The actors spent thursday morning in the recording studio at Moore Park, taking a brief break to meet with NSW Premier Kristina Keneally.
The original Happy Feet was released in 2006 and earned about US$384 million world wide. It won an academy award for best animated feature film in the same year.
Director George Miller said he hoped the follow-up to his dancing penguin hit would have the same success but said it wasn't guaranteed. "I have no confidence whatsoever, you just never know," he said in Sydney.
"Happy Feet was successful I think because it seemed fresh. The sequel obviously can't be." Miller said Happy Feet 2 would capitalise on the technology used on films like Avatar. "This is exactly the technology that drove Avatar, and that drove Lord Of The Rings," he said. "All this technology is now in this city. It's amazing technology."
The US stars will spend two weeks in Sydney working on the film which expected to support more than 500 local jobs over three years.
On the Happy Feet 2 page you can read what Robin has to say about the upcoming sequel.
