Spongebob Squarepants: Truth or Square airs Nov 06 (October 14)

Celebrity guest stars Rosario Dawson, Craig Ferguson, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, LeBron James, P!nk, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and Robin Williams appear as themselves in live-action sequences throughout the special, which follows SpongeBob and the Bikini Bottom gang as they reminisce through a series of original, never-before-seen flashbacks.

Nickelodeon dishes up SpongeBob SquarePants “Truth or Square” premiering Friday, Nov. 6 at 8:00 p.m.

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of top-rated kids’ series SpongeBob SquarePants - “Truth or Square” is a star-studded one-hour prime time television event.

Ricky Gervais narrates the special and Cee-Lo Green (Gnarles Barkley) performs a cover of the SpongeBob theme song to an all-new stop-motion opening title sequence.

“Over the past decade, SpongeBob has become one of the most beloved characters in television history,” said Brown Johnson, President, Animation, Nickelodeon and MTVN Kids and Family Group.  “And we’re excited to cap off the year’s celebration with this star-studded special anniversary event.”

The Premise:
“Truth or Square” finds SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward and Mr. Krabs accidentally locked inside the Krusty Krab’s  giant freezer on the day of the restaurant’s big “eleventy seventh” anniversary celebration.  As they crawl through the complex ventilation system trying to escape, the friends look back on shared memories through never-before-seen flashback moments.  Highlights include SpongeBob’s first visit to the Krusty Krab as a baby, a vintage Krusty Krab TV commercial, how SpongeBob found his beloved pineapple house and the time that SpongeBob and Sandy got married!

The special is hosted by Patchy the Pirate, President of the SpongeBob Fan Club (Encino Chapter), who sets off for Burbank, Calif. hoping to finally meet his long-time idol, SpongeBob, and ask him to be the guest of honor on his television special.  While trying to track down SpongeBob, Patchy also pursues SpongeBob’s celebrity fans and tries to persuade them to also appear on the big show.

To celebrate this on-air event, a dedicated SpongeBob category will be available on Nickelodeon VOD during the months of October and November that will include a two-minute sneak-peek of “Truth or Square” in October.  The event will be fully simulcasted on Nickelodeon Mobile.

SpongeBob SquarePants features Tom Kenny as SpongeBob, Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick, Rodger Bumpass as Squidward, Clancy Brown as Mr. Krabs, Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy Cheeks and Mr. Lawrence as Plankton.

Make-a-wish: There's More Than Performing On Stage (September 28)

Geoffrey just met Robin Williams! His wish came true on September 18 in Corte Madera, CA. Geoffrey and Robin had lunch together at Il Fornaio in Corte Madera, CA. For two hours the conversation never stopped, nor did the laughs. Geoffrey signed a mug that he gave to Robin and Robin told him he would use it for his morning coffee! And of course, Robin signed things for Geoffrey. At the end of the lunch Geoffrey and family were surprised with tickets to Robin's show that night at the Throckmorton Theater in Mill Valley with reserved seats.

Unexpected Marin Humane Society Fundraiser appearance (September 21)

Yesterday Robin made a surprise appearance at the annual Woofstock fundraiser at the Marin Humane Society in Bel Marin Keys and shared the stage with fellow Marin comic Mark Pitta, the show's emcee.
In front of about 300 hundred people, the two traded one-liners for about 25 minutes and read off the names of raffle prize winners. Robin started by making cat sounds, causing many of the several dozen dogs in the audience to tilt their heads, and made several references to the places dogs tend to lick and sniff.

When Robin was raffling an iPod Nano, Pitta warned him not to say the name twice in a row, a reference to Robin's signature "na nu na nu" line from his "Mork & Mindy" days.

That same day Robin received the Comedy Legend Award in San Francisco, CA at the Comedy Day event. Below is a clip with Debbie Durst introducing Robin and his acceptance speech:

RWF Meeting a Success! (September 06)

Last friday on August 28th we had a very exciting RWF Meeting in San Francisco. In the afternoon we went to see "World's Greatest Dad" with a whole bunch of people joining from Canada, San Diego and of course the Bay Area. After the movie we all went straight to Bimbo's 365 where Robin was about to perform later that night.
At the venue a line had already been formed and we handed out postcards promoting the film "World's Greatest Dad", hoping more people will go see it while it's still playing in theaters.
Soon a few more people who were able to get tickets for the show joined us and we had an amazing time at the show! On top of that, two of us went backstage afterwards to say "hi" to Robin.
We finished the evening across the street from Bimbo's with a few drinks.

Thanks so much to those who were there and for those who couldn't make it, maybe we'll see you next time!

Disney honors Robin (September 01)

The 22 year tradition of honoring people who have entertained and embraced the Walt Disney Corporation's name and entertainment is what the Disney Legend award is all about. The other honorees are Tony Anselmo, Harry Archinal, Bill Farmer, Estelle Getty, Don Iwerks, Rue McClanahan, Leota Toombs Thomas and Betty White.

An Evening with Robin Williams (1982) on DVD (August 31)

Finally, after 27 years "An Evening with Robin Williams" will be released on DVD - in Australia.
It features Robin’s trademark free associations, million-mile-per-hour speech and riffs on the social and political absurdities of the world, his zany, off-the-wall humour never ceases to dazzle as he yells, skips and swears his way through a series of crazy characters and improvisations that reflect that indelible Williams’ hysteria, plus heaps of Special Features. Live and Uncensored! The DVD will be available in Australian stores from September 9, 2009.

To promote this DVD release, Robin will appear on Rove Daily on Sunday September 06!

NO Susan Boyle biopic (August 25)

Gossip blogs and news sources everywhere this week have reported that Robin was set to play Susan Boyle in a movie about her life, however, his rep says the story is completely fabricated.

The tale originated from the UK's Telegraph, with Robin allegedly telling the paper, "I've been asked if I want to play Susan in the movie. I think she's incredible. That clip of her singing on "Britain's Got Talent" was extraordinary. So inspiring. It was quite a shock when she began to sing."

However, his rep told MSNBC's The Scoop that the entire story is fictional and any quotes attributed to the actor in the piece were made up.

It's uncluear how the rumor started, but one of the first people and possible thé first who wrote about this was Morgan Piers, who was on the Tonight Show with Robin 2 weeks ago. He wrote on his blog about his meeting with Robin and their conversation about Britain's Got Talent and Susan Boyle. Things Robin said were misinterpreted and used out of context and therefore all rumors around this topic are untrue.

"Welcome to 'me 2.0'" (August 08)

review written by RWF - Linda
That's how Robin opened his shows last monday and wednesday (aug. 03 & 05) when he performed a full 90 minutes on stage for first time since he's had the heart surgery done last March. We were there to share the excitement and wrote a short review on what happened!!

A few weeks after his surgery he went on stage for a brief moment only to find out he wasn't ready yet. Last monday, he sure was ready!

These "Recharging the Batteries" shows give him the opportunity to get ready for the remainder of his tour and the HBO special, which will be taped in Washington, DC in November. And he basically continued where he left off: an amazing show with great material. Thrown in some new material about what he's been through last few months.
Both shows went very well, all that needs to be done is to smooth out some jokes and, in a few occasions, transist from one joke to another slightly different. But no doubt he get it 100% right and all perfect before the Tour resumes on September 30th.

Without giving too much away, main topics included were:
- the GPS system (Or maybe the EPS: "Emotional Position System, before we begin our journey, let's find out where you are")
- Engineers brainstorming about the "intelligent" design of the human reproductive system ( "It's one of the ugliest things we've done")
- Rehab ("I went to rehab in wine country, just to keep my options open")
- Heart surgery in Cleveland ("why?")
- Cash for Clunkers for organs
- The Chinese and the Olympics
- Alternative fuel sources
- Recycling
- Technology / Twitter ("Is it ok to Twitter during sex? 'OMG, OMG, WTF, ZZZ'")

The standing ovation before, during and after the shows only showed how much the audience appreciated him being back on stage.

After the shows there's always an after party backstage and since a few years ago we/I get to go there. This time we had a picture made to prove to you all that Robin is doing well and strong!

Robin back on HBO: Weapons of Self Destruction! (August 02)

© Copyright (c) Canwest News Service
When Williams took the stage at Pasadena's Langham Huntington Hotel & Spa late Thursday during the semi-annual meeting of the Television Critics Association, he was alternatively reflective, philosophical, subdued and relieved to once again be doing what he was born to do: Make audiences laugh, without making a spectacle of himself.

Robin Williams: Weapons of Self-Destruction will be taped during one of the stops on his current sold-out comedy tour.

"We don't have a clip yet because we haven't shot it," HBO's Sue Naegle told the crowd -- only to throw to a chronological clip reel of Williams' appearances on HBO over the years.

"We're going to put together a clip real quick," Williams said, without missing a beat. "It's nice to be on the same bill as Hung."

HBO comedy specials, sold-out stadium arenas and $20-million movie paydays are one thing, but playing small comedy clubs runs in Williams' blood.

"When you play in small clubs, it gives you a chance to really just stretch and see what you can find. I remember being in Minneapolis recently and actually enjoying a place that was literate, where you could make references like, 'Shakespeare's newest work: So That's The Way You Like It,' and have people go, 'I got it. Thanks'."

Watching himself in a chronological clip reel is a, well, sobering experience, Williams admitted. Chronological clip reels are usually reserved for performers who are very, very old or very, very dead.

"It's wild to see stuff from 30 years ago -- wow, that's so long ago -- and realize, 'Yes, I'm not dead, and yet they're showing a clip reel.' It's pretty strange to see the transition over the years and see how it marks different time periods. I realize it's been a long time. But HBO has always been there. That's why I came back. The reason I'm going back to standup is I've run out of the merchandising money from Bicentennial Man."

Williams' comedy heroes include the greats: Jonathan Winters and Richard Pryor. And, of course, George Carlin.

"On the first Comic Relief special on HBO, Carlin walked out and it was amazing. That was a great memory for me. He opened up by saying, 'Anorexia. Why do I give a s*** if some rich c*** won't eat?' And then we went, 'Our lines are open. 1-800-Comic-Relief. Please call."

In a strange way, his serious, dramatic roles in films like Dead Poets Society, Insomnia, One Hour Photo and Good Will Hunting provide a cathartic release from the pressures of comedy tour, Williams said at a media briefing.

"When you do standup comedy, it forces you to take chances. That infuses your acting with the idea that, 'I can try this.' That's why I can do something like World's Greatest Dad or Insomnia or One Hour Photo. The comedy encourages you not to be afraid.

"Acting forces you to concentrate. You think to yourself, 'Stay with this. Concentrate. Don't be afraid to stay in character.' It's been a while since I've done a character part onstage, but I've got to try it and see if I can bring some of that back. It's freeing because every once in a while you'll find a character and it becomes almost like possession. You just go with it, and you find something really interesting. Yeah, they feed each other perfectly. It's pretty symbiotic."

Robin pays Lance Armstrong a visit in France! (July 12)

As released on news.yahoo.com
TARBES, France (AFP) – Academy-award winning actor and cycling enthusiast Robin Williams paid tribute to his friend Lance Armstrong's determination to return and win an eighth Tour de France.

The 57-year-old, who won an Oscar for best supporting actor in 1998 for the film Good Will Hunting, visited the race and saw Frenchman Pierrick Fedrigo win the race's ninth stage held over 160.5km from Saint Gaudens to Tarbes.

Italian Rinaldo Nocentini retained the yellow jersey while seven-times Tour winner Armstrong remains in third at eight seconds behind.

It is the second time this Tour a Hollywood A-list star has visited Armstrong after Ben Stiller dropped into Marseille last Monday to visit the cyclist after the pair appeared in the movie Dodgeball together.

"He's a great friend and it's great to hang out with him," said Williams, who lives near Armstrong's Astana team-mate Levi Leipheimer in California.

"You have to say they are a great team, anybody who rides in conditions like today, you have to salute them."

Williams praised cancer-survivor Armstrong's return to the Tour after a four-year break in a bid to win an eighth title and highlight the fight against the disease.

"It's wild to see him back on the Tour," said Williams.

"You'd think after seven wins he'd think 'c'est fini', but no, he is back for one more time.

"That is pretty ballsy. To race the Giro d'Italia and the Tour of California already this year, it's kind of great and he is doing it for many reasons which is wonderful to see."

This is not the first time Williams has visited Armstrong on the Tour, having been a regular when the American raced for the US Postal and Discovery Channel teams.

"People watching at home have no idea how hard this event is," said Williams.

"On TV the mountain stages look a bit steep, when you are there they are insanely steep, even in the car you have to look through the sunroof to see the top when you are at the bottom.

"They are coming down the mountains at 60 miles an hour.

"Someone told me in the Giro a rider fell 600ft and lived, that gives you an idea. That is a long way down."

Williams could not resist cracking a joke when asked if other stars would be visiting Armstrong.

"Paris Hilton has to come to the final stage, after all they named the city after her," he said.

New HBO special coming up for Weapons of Self Destruction! (July 08)

This is very exciting news and we've received many, many emails about this, so this is quite exciting!

HBO has announced that Robin will bring his "Weapons of Self-Destruction" to the cable network in December 2009. It will be his first stand-up comedy performance for HBO in seven years.

The show will be recorded at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington DC in November and will air in December.

The "Weapons of Self Destruction" Tour was postponed in March when Robin underwent heart surgery. The tour will resume in September 2009 to make up the postponed dates. The HBO taping will come near the conclusion of the tour and will air after the tour is completed.

So, if you want to see him live, go get your tickets now as it may take a long time to get the opportunity again.

#1 Battle of the Smithsonian! (May 25)

"Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian" did extremely well during its opening weekend. The movie screens at 4,096 theaters and 160 IMAX sites, including the Smithsonian itself, and generated $53,500,000 in it's opening weekend alone. No other film could top that, which means "Battle of the Smithsonian" is ranked #1 in the US Box Office.
Distributor 20th Century Fox's exit polling classified 52 percent of the audience as "non-family" (the other 48 percent being families), and suggested that 55 percent of that crowd was under 25 years old with an even split between the genders.

Watch out, he's back! (May 06)

On March 23 in a press release it was mentioned that Robin's recovery would take about 8 weeks. Apparently those 8 weeks have passed! Robin performed last night in Mill Valley, CA (Throckmorton 142) with Mark Pitta & Friends. This was the first time he performed on stage after the surgery.

Here at the Fansite we're very relieved the recovery went well and as planned. We wish him good luck going back to work.

Rainforest SOS (May 05)

Robin has got involved in The Prince's Rainforest Projects. The focal point of the campaign is a 90-second public awareness film in which His Royal Highness appears alongside his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, an array of well-known figures including Harrison Ford, the Dalai Lama, Daniel Craig, Robin Williams and children from around the world.

Each individual appears alongside an animated frog. The frog, created by Framestore, the Oscar-winning computer generated imagery (CGI) experts behind the film The Golden Compass, serves as a symbol of the rainforest.

The film will be broadcast for the first time today, at 1pm EST, on a variety of websites, including the social networking site MySpace. As the webcast is transmitted, the public awareness film will be shown at a launch event, attended by The Prince of Wales at London¹s National Geographic store.

The film can be viewed, and the public can demonstrate their support for the cause by visiting www.rainforestSOS.org

Wanna see Robin's contribution? Watch it here:

In a press release Robin tells us why he supports this cause:
“There are so many things in the rainforests that must be preserved - I believe that it is an exquisite part of the world - it needs us and much more important we need it. Please help.”

Zak's Film Debut! (May 01)

  The Graduates Poster

A few years ago Robin mentioned on the Jay Leno show that his oldest son Zak was interested in going into acting. This week the film The Graduates premieres in New York, in which Zak makes his first feature film appearance. Rogue Cinema reviewed the film and wrote the following about Zak's character and the film itself:

Mike "The Resonator" Resniski (Zak Williams): Mike showed up later in the film. He's a 28 year old guy that Josh went to school with. Josh spots him out and about and they have a beer together. Their conversation reveals that their lives have taken totally separate paths. Mike is big into golfing and has a bitchy wife, a bitchy mother-in-law and a baby. His conversation with Josh makes him realize how much he hates his life and wants his youth back. Zak Williams didn't have a huge part in the film, but he had a very notable part. He feels like so many of us who have felt their youth slip away from them without even realizing it had happened. One day they wake up with that, "How the hell did I get here?" feeling. He played his role perfectly, and I really felt for this guy. I hate to sound like a broken record, but Zak Williams is a really likeable actor. The great thing about him is, I could also see him taking up the spoiled rich bastard role in some other film with equal adroitness. (Woohoo!!! There's that vocabulary again!)

This film had so many characters and so much going on, there was really no other fair way to write this review than to mention as many of the notables as possible and to talk about their place and situation in the grand scheme of the film. There were some other side characters who also did a great job, but their roles were so small I'm not going to get into them here.

The Graduates was a surprisingly good film. I did feel like a few of the characters kind of got lost in the shuffle here and there, but that's to be expected in a film with this many characters and this much going on. Still considering how much there was going on with all the different aspects of the story, a film like this one could have easily become a total mess, losing any and all direction. This film however held everything together nicely and presents us with a coherent story about a time in our lives that was a huge period of transition for all of us. The end of high school is the end of one era and the beginning of a new one, and I think that those of us who've been through it, will all be able to identify with these characters and what they're going through.

This film is currently available for pre-sale and will be out on DVD in May with lots of great special features. If you love great independent films, then I seriously suggest picking up a copy.

If you'd like to find out more about this film or to order a copy for yourself, you can check out the film's website at http://www.thegraduatesmovie.com.

World's Greatest Dad (April 11)

World's Greatest Dad received very positive reviews after several screenings at the Sundance Film Festival. Recently the film has aqcuired a distributor and the film will have a limited release on August 21, 2009. But, before it hits theaters it'll screen at several film festivals (Boston and Syracuse). The film will also be released on "Video on Demand" prior to its official theatrical release in August.

Recently Bobcat Goldthwait spoke with Eric Kohn from The Wrap and told him:
The movie's biggest asset, of course, is Williams. The actor, one of Goldthwait's closest pals, had heart surgery on March 13, but Goldthwait hopes Williams can still help promote the movie. "He's on the high end on the curve to recovery," Goldthwait said. "When I saw him the other day, he had a lot of color and looked great. He's really supportive of the movie."
The full article can be found here.

All festival info, stills and clips can be found on the World's Greatest Dad page.
As soon as the list with theaters/cities is available, it'll be posted on the site. Stay tuned!!

Recovering! (March 23)

Robin is due to make a complete recovery within the next eight weeks after having undergone heart surgery on March 13, according to a statement released by his publicist. "Mr. Williams' operation went extremely well and we expect him to make a full recovery," said Cleveland Clinic staff cardiothoracic surgeon A. Marc Gillinov. "The 3-1/2-hour heart surgery was conducted to replace his aortic valve, repair his mitral valve, and correct his irregular heart beat."

Robin said in a statement, "The professionals at the University of Miami Hospital and ultimately at the Cleveland Clinic were all fantastic. I can't thank them enough for their kindness and dedication while I was in their care. I must also thank all the people who have expressed their love and concern for me. I have been deeply touched by their support. I got some great new material for the tour and can’t wait to get back on the road. I’m thinking the next leg of the tour will be 'Weapons of Self-Destruction and Reconstruction!'"

Robin undergoes surgery ; Tour postponed (March 05)

Robin has postponed the remainder of his "Weapons of Self-Destruction Tour" to undergo surgery for aortic valve replacement.

The tour is expected to resume in the fall, according to a release sent this afternoon from his publicist. It's been reported that the actor is a Miami hospital, however Williams' publicist would not confirm his location.

Tickets will go on sale this sunday (March 01) and because many people asked and waited for some NY shows to be added to the Tour list, the shows will most likely sell out fast.
*edit Feb 28* Tickets go on sale on March 01 @ 8am!!

Robin about returning to Broadway: "I'm excited to be back on Broadway. It's been a blast working on new material for this tour. The current state of the country's political and economic climate, while so hard on so many people, has been like gold for a comedian. There's just so much that's ripe for the picking."

Last time Robin performed on Broadway was on July 14, 2002 when he did a performance that aired live on HBO, which is available on DVD titled: Robin Williams: Live on Broadway.

"I'm desperately naive" (January 22)

Robin did a couple of interviews when promoting World's Greatest Dad when it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last weekend. Below you can find a short, but rather unusual interview.

Robin Williams may play a wise old sage in many of his movies but in reality, he claims to be 'desperately naive.' "I'm not wise at all in real life," said the star at the Sundance Film Festival premiere of his new comedy movie World's Greatest Dad. "I'm desperately naive most of the time." But the star is able to turn to his three children, Zachary, 25, Zelda, 19, and Cody, 17 for advice when he needs it. "The good news is I have great friends and family," he said. "My children I ask not just for advice but I also get a perspective from them on how I'm doing." Robin was happy to be at the festival in snowy Park City Utah to promote the new comedy film in which he plays a flawed single dad and wannabe writer. "It feels lovely," he said, before adding; "I'm quite capable of dealing with the cold."

World's Great Dad Premiere World's Great Dad Premiere World's Great Dad Premiere

The first review has been published as well, which can be read below. Of course more reviews will follow.

One of the oddest comedic star vehicles since Jim Carrey reached his outer limits in "The Cable Guy", Bobcat Goldthwait's "World's Greatest Dad' provides Robin Williams with his best role in years. Obscene in concept and execution, the movie functions as a highly subversive anti-morality tale disguised as a mainstream laughfest. Williams plays single father Lance, who teaches at the high school where his universally unliked son Kyle (Daryl Sabara) attends, until Kyle's apparent suicide. In a moment of uncalculated fury, Williams's character,a talented writer, composes a suicide note for his late offspring to make him look better. The ruse works, and Kyle becomes a posthumous hero for the scholastic community that originally rejected him. Goldthwait, building on the edgy turf he first explored with his previous Sundance entry, "Sleeping Dogs Lie", excels at accomplishing his exceedingly naughty intentions.
Goldthwait's script takes several plot twists to arrive at its central premise, and the journey there feels awfully derivative. But that's the point: "World's Greatest Dad" works wonderfully as a rich black comedy willing to reach into virtually unprecedented territory to both offend, enrage and finally entertain its theoretical audience. The only question is whether that audience exists. Either way, Williams does penance for his lesser studio comedies (This isn't "Mrs. Doubtfire", Goldthwait joked at the premiere) and it would benefit him to go this far again.
